Dropwire Protected Connection Box
The CPT Dropwire/Internal connection box is a tough weatherproof 1 or 2 line connection box made from durable plastic. The incoming and outgoing cables can be fed from the top, bottom or sides. At the point of entry an internal membrane seals around the cable keeping out dust and moisture. Cable termination is simple. The incoming drop wire is terminated into one side of a protected connection module with the CPE wire connected from the other side of the module. All connections are IDC and Gel filled. The lightening protection circuit consists of a three terminal GDA which requires an external earth to be brought into the box.
Features.
Lightening Protection. This box gives lightening protection as long as the earth connection is properly made to the centre pole which is clearly marked EARTH and to ground.
Cable entry. The cables can enter through any side and are sealed against moisture, dust and insect penetration by a membrane on the inner side of the box. The special membrane seals around the cable sheath. No special tools are required. Alternatively, cables can enter the box via conduit.
Connection module. The cables are terminated into a disconnection module which contains a GDA protection device. A Gel disconnection filled insulation displacement mechanism protects the electrical contacts. The module is mechanically fitted onto a central earthed support bar and can easily be unclipped from the bar.
Dropwire connection. The drop wire cable is inserted into the appropriate terminal block end of the disconnection module. A simple screw down arrangement makes the IDC type connection.
CPE connection. The CPE connection is made by lifting the clear tab on the disconnection module, inserting the wires then pushing back down the clear tab to make the IDC type connection.
One line or two line connection. This box can be expanded to 2 lines by the simple addition of an extra disconnection module. It is possible to accommodate up to 3 telephone lines. However, to fit a further disconnection module a different earthing bar has to be fitted. This bar has the earth connection at one end instead of the centre stud.
A coupler is available for conduit cable entry (version shown). The membrane will be inactive at that point as it comes out when the plug is put through.
Fixing. The connection box is fixed to the mounting surface by two screws. Inside the box there are 2 covers which are moulded onto the membrane and located under the earth strip. These can be flipped off and pushed onto the top of the fixing screws giving added water protection from the rear.
